GET INVOLVED

Happy New Year Friends!

A Message From Tom:

Hello Friends & Happy New Year!

I'd like to say THANK YOU for making 2022 such an amazing community success! After a two-year hiatus, we were able to once again make music together and re-connect the FoF community: live and in person :) So many great performances this past year, by so many talented musicians!

So, it goes without saying, that I'm super stoked to  announce the Festival of Friends programming line-up and calendar of events for 2023, including our first Songmixers of the year (Arena Rock Radio) on Saturday, February 28.

You can review the
full 2023 Programming & Events calendar further down the page.

2023 Community Programming

This year's community music-making formats will center on both Bandmixers and Songmixers programming. I'm also excited to announce the long-awaited reschedule date for the postponed "Singles Soundtrack" Songmixers we planned to do in March of 2020. This rescheduled event will take place on Saturday, September 30 at Aurora Borealis.
Musically speaking, there's a fun mix of eras and styles represented in FoF's 2023 programming including: Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Who, PJ Harvey, Queen, Lenny Kravitz, The Cars, Rage Against The Mahcine, The Pretenders and more!

I'm looking forward to bringing the community together again in 2023 and welcoming those of you who may be new as well. Thank you for all your continued support and musical inspiration.

See you soon!
-Tom

Songmixers Series - Volume 13 // Arena Rock Radio

Festival of Friends Events / Songmixers Series (Vol. 13), showcasing 20 select-songs from 20 different iconic artists and bands from the Arena Rock era.
The "Arena Rock" style developed in the mid-'70s, when hard rock and heavy metal bands began to gain popularity. The music became more commercially oriented and radio-friendly, boasting slick productions with big drums, guitars and vocals and the ever present anthemic choruses, both on their hard rock numbers and power ballads. Many of these acts earned their following through saturation airplay on FM radio and constant touring. Bands like Journey, REO Speedwagon, Boston, Queen and KISS became some of the most popular bands of the mid- to late '70s through this circuit.
