BUSH / SIXTEEN STONE (1994)
Sixteen Stone is the debut studio album by English rock band Bush, released on 6 December 1994. It became the band's most popular album, peaking at number four on the US Billboard 200 and boasting numerous successful singles. Under the guidance of producers Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley -- the kings of early-'80s British pop -- Sixteen Stone follows all the rules and sounds of American hard rock, specifically Nirvana and Pearl Jam. The group's two major hits, "Everything Zen" and "Little Things," are slick, assured professional replications of Nirvana's trademarks, but Bush also have a flair for big hooks and in Gavin Rossdale, a frontman with star charisma; all the elements that turned Sixteen Stone into successful pop-grunge classic. The album was certified 6× Platinum by the RIAA in 1997.
