Festival of Friends Events mission is to provide participatory live performance experiences that are easy to organize, simple to host, goal-oriented for participants and community-centric in nature. So whether an event's happening in your hometown or you're visiting somewhere new: find an event, sign up, and join a cast of band mates and experience a shift in not only how you make music but who you make music with. Where will you bandshare next? |
An Evening of Participatory Performance and Community Entertainment
Think of Festival of Friends Songmixers Series as live "mixtape" performance experiences with a cast of rotating musicians as the evening's entertainment. Events are designed to strip the performance experience down to its bare essentials: well-curated set lists, goal-oriented practice time, a great show atmosphere for musicians and audience members and a good time for everyone.
The twist: No group rehearsals beforehand. It's plug-n-play live performance. |
No band. No problem. Just Add You.We sincerely believe the best music is the music we make together. Festival of Friends musician gatherings are designed to be no-pressure and non-competitive live performance experiences for everyday recreational players.
You simply sign-up for a Songmixers event, pick your song slots (each participating musician is guaranteed a minimum number of songs), learn your parts and hit the stage while having a great time with friends, family and community. We host. You play. |
Where It All Started
Festival of Friends is the evolution of the original short-term band concept started by three friends in a Seattle garage in 2008. It was a simple idea: learn, play and perform music in a fun and casual environment for friends, family and community. What began as a handful of live events with rotating singers (most, first timers to the stage) who rehearsed and then performed cover songs with a backing band, has blossomed into an expanding collection of players and live music-making experiences for everyday musicians ranging from college students to 9-to-5'ers to early retirees. We welcome your participation in our plug-n-play performance community.
The Pursuit of Recreational Musicianship
Festival of Friends Events participants range from college students to 9-to-5'ers to early retirees who love to play and perform but lack the resources and time to put it all together. Our goal is simple: to shift the playing experience from the living room to the stage and make the world a better place through musical connection and live performance minus the constraints, pressures or judgments of the professional scene.

Who You Are
Festival of Friends Events are for skilled recreational musicians who are short on time but not on passion and seek organized, one-off performance experiences with new faces and old friends. You can accurately learn a few songs on your own and readily-apply your abilities in a live performance setting. And while we might not always get it perfect we'll definitely have fun trying!
