Venuology / Birthplace of the Band
If there’s a characteristic shared by many great rock venues, it’s that they’re rarely about glitz, glamour, or over-the-top flash. Oftentimes, the best venues have a ragged quality that feels part and parcel of rock music itself. Many great bands and artists served apprenticeships and honed their crafts in such settings, performing on low-tiered rickety stages. The legendary venues below prove that shifts in the direction of rock can sometimes occur in the unlikeliest of places.
Venueology: Legendary Clubs / Iconic Scenes will feature a variety of influential bands and artists who have graced the stages of these iconic rock and roll venues over the years and left an indelible impression on their cities of origin and in some cases national and international success.
