FESTIVAL OF FRIENDS / TACOMA, WA
Festival of Friends events are made up of:
- Pre-organized cover song performance collectives showcasing material by iconic bands and artists performed by a rotating cast of musicians over the course of the evening.
- Up to 20 participating musicians (material dependent) who've registered in advance for the (guaranteed minimum) four songs they want to perform on their primary instrument.
Festival of Friends bandshare events are for:
- Armchair musicians as well as routine players with an intermediate to advanced-level skill set (even if its been a while and you're just looking to kick off the rust).
- Who can learn material on their own and readily apply it in a live event setting. There are no auditions or formalized rehearsals.
- The only requirements for participating musicians is to come to the show ready to perform (i.e., know the songs and your parts to the best of your ability), be respectful to your event bandmates and to have lots of fun!
What are the benefits of participating?
- Simple, convenient and low-pressure way to play in a band and perform live with both new faces and old friends minus the legwork of bringing it together.
- Improve your overall playing through focused, goal-oriented practice time and live performance gigs.
- Try out new musical styles you might otherwise not have considered or had the opportunity to explore.
- Spend less time organizing a band and more time applying your passion and skills.
- Play and perform music minus any long-term commitment above and beyond the event itself.
Event Theme: Rock Influences
This event theme features classic music by four iconic bands from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's, all of whom have influenced one another through the years, providing participants a range of material to choose from while offering audiences a musical showcase tracing a stylistic arc from the showcased bands. This event explores the music of Led Zeppelin in the 60's, Black Sabbath in the 70's, Black Flag in the 80s and Soundgarden in the 90s.
This particular event format requires participating musicians to choose their playing role from only one of the four featured bands and will perform on only that band's material. The FoF band collective performance format is great when you want a performing experience with more continuity built into it.
