Songmixers Series : Volume 15
Event Info: Singles Soundtrack & Seattle Grunge
Cameron Crowe’s grunge-era film classic 'Singles' celebrates its 31st anniversary this year - with the soundtrack originally released on June 30, 1992. To mark the occasion, Festival of Friends Events will present the album in its entirety at Aurora Borealis on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
The iconic soundtrack features songs by Chris Cornell, Pearl Jam, Paul Westerberg, Smashing Pumpkins, Mother Love Bone and many others. In addition to the original 13-song soundtrack, we'll also feature a selection of bonus songs from the late 80's and early 90's grunge-era including material from Mudhoney, Nirvana, Hammerbox, and more. See the event's full track listing below. Songmixers are the flagship Festival of Friends live event performance format. Songmixers events feature a rotating roster of up to 25 to 30 musicians that showcase a range of players and performers in the Festival of Friends Events community. Collectively the musicians perform a 20 to 22-song themed set from some of rock music's most iconic bands and artists. |
Alice In Chains // Would? (1992)
"Would?" was originally written by AIC guitarist Jerry Cantrell following the death of his friend Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone from a heroin overdose. It would later appear on the band's second studio album "Dirt" also released in 1992 and go on to be one of the band's most signature songs.

Pearl Jam // Breath (1992)
"Breath" is a song that originated as an instrumental demo called "Doobie E" written in 1990 by Stone Gossard. The re-recorded version featured on the soundtrack features lyrics written by Eddie Vedder and was one of the first songs to be recorded with drummer Dave Abbruzzese.

Chris Cornell // Seasons (1992)
Cornell’s moving acoustic solo contribution to the Singles soundtrack grew out of a piece of fiction: a solo cassette made by Matt Dillon’s Cliff Poncier character and Citizen Dick band member. Cornell took it upon himself to actually write songs for the tape, including this reflective ballad.
