TALKING HEADS / BEST OF TALKING HEADS - COMPILATION (2004)
|
Talking Heads were an influential American band from the late-1970s New York art-punk scene. The core lineup—David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison—blended punk minimalism with art-school ideas, funk rhythms, and global influences. Early albums like Talking Heads: 77 and More Songs About Buildings and Food helped define new wave, pairing sharp, anxious lyrics with stripped-down grooves. In the early 1980s, the band expanded their sound on albums such as Remain in Light and Speaking in Tongues, incorporating polyrhythms, electronics, and dance-driven experimentation. Their concert film Stop Making Sense became iconic, capturing their innovative live presence. Later material explored more accessible songwriting alongside continued world-music influences with the Talking Heads having left a lasting mark on alternative rock, post-punk, and art pop, redefining what rock music could be.
