IGGY AND THE STOOGES / GREATEST HITS SELECTIONS
|
Iggy and the Stooges were an American rock band formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1967, fronted by singer Iggy Pop. Known for their raw sound, confrontational performances, and stripped-down approach, the band became one of the most important early influences on punk rock. The group released three landmark albums: The Stooges (1969), Fun House (1970), and Raw Power (1973). Though commercially unsuccessful at the time, songs like “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” “Search and Destroy,” and “Lust for Life” later became classics, admired for their aggression, simplicity, and rebellious spirit. Iggy Pop’s intense stage presence—marked by unpredictability and physicality—helped redefine what a rock frontman could be. Disbanded in the mid-1970s, the Stooges’ reputation grew steadily in later years as their influence became clear across punk, alternative, and hard rock. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010, solidifying their legacy as one of the most groundbreaking bands in rock history.
