Bandmixers-Roulette Programming
Festival of Friends Events BANDMIXERS-ROULETTE concept is simple: Community musicians (a mix of instrumentalists and vocalists) sign up for an event's "roulette musician pool" in advance. Out of the pool, twenty-five musicians are randomly selected to participate and are then assigned to one of five different cover bands for the event. Each roulette band is also provided with a two-hour rehearsal session, one week prior to the event to "performance-ready" their sets.
Community Roulette will bring together many facets of our musician community that may seem incompatible, as well as musicians whose interests may conflict. The challenge for these participants is to go beyond their musical differences and work together to create a unified group and "set list" that represents personal styles of the individual band members while honoring and reflecting the chosen theme.
2. You create bands that will do 3 songs, and you choose the songs. We roll the dice and wait to hear what the songs are, and who our band is
It’s like the Songmixers, in that we sign up not knowing our band, but this version we have to be willing to play anything. And we get three songs with the same people instead of three songs with different folks on each song. A Bandmixers/Songmixers hybrid…..we get a band experience, with fewer songs, fewer rehearsals.
